This was written to perform in a London folk club with Richard Symons and Paul Hart. The song went down well so we recorded it. Several years later - and after the untimely death of Richard who did love life - I revisited the recording with a view to using the song for The Big Stone.
The viola is Paul Hart, and the backing vocals are Richard - both from the original recording. The guitar and my vocal are new - as is the bass, played by Ben. This song has a counterpart 'Long hard road' which is on the Longman Records sampler CD 'A scattering of snow'. |

Sunlight filled my eyes
Dispelled the darkness in my mind
That I smiled to greet the day
All my tasks with a lighter heart
I sang how much I love this life
How much I love this life
Whatever comes to darken this world
I will meet with firm resolve
And think of a simple time
When I fell in love with life
I'll sing how much I love this life
How much I love this life
Minutes, hours, days slip away
And time passes all by
Nothing stays the same for long
But what's gone may begin anew
I sing how much I love this life
How much I love this life
I sing how much I love this life
How much I love this life
Love this life
How much I love this life
How much I love this life
