This song is the second part of a two song set. The first part is called 'How much I love this life' and is available as a free mp3 download from this website <link> I was concerned the first song may be taken as too cheerful - and that I ought to point out that nothing is easy - and that results come to the brave and hardworking, with a bit of luck thrown in for good measure! Richard Durrant plays guitars, Ben plays bass and sings backup, I play steel strung guitar and sing. I was very pleased that Richard chose this to go on the sampler CD because Roland Harris liked it - and before he passed away he encouraged me to do more with my songs. |

We are born into this cruel world
Just tiny boys and little girls
Who must learn to face all that's better and worse
As we learn to crawl across this spinning earth
Time cracks away at its relentless pace
And there's no escaping the fears we all face
It's a long hard road down which we must go
It's a long hard road down which we must go
It's shear guts that will take the day
With good fortune along the way
So never say 'give in'
While there's the chance that you might win
Time cracks away at its relentless pace
And there's no escaping the fears we all face
It's a long hard road down which we must go
It's a long hard road down which we must go
